Headaches and Migraines
Headaches can be a great source of pain, ranging from mild to extreme, often or occasionally. If you suffer Migraines, Occipital Neuralgia, Tension Headaches or any type of a headache, then we have a treatment plan and strategy for you. It is not necessary to keep suffering the debilitating pain from headaches anymore.
Migraines, Tension Headache and Occipital neuralgia
Migraines can involve vomiting, nausea, light sensitivity and extreme pain. Occipital Neuralgia is a type of a headache which is due to an inflamed nerve at the base of the skull and spinal cord. Symptoms can be sharp, jabbing, electric shock in the back of the head and neck, as well as light sensitivity and eye pain. Acupuncture treatment aims to shorten the length and intensity of the pain.
Patients often report suffering recurring weekly and monthly headaches and have often not sought treatment. Recurring headaches are a not normal thing and the issue really needs to be addressed. From a Chinese Medicine point of view, the body is trying to let you know that it is out of balance. At Acupuncture Hub we regularly treat recurring headaches, aiming to treat the root cause and bring the body back into a state of balance.
Viewpoint of Chinese Medicine
In Chinese Medicine, headaches occur due to an imbalance in the internal organs and the meridians. For example, a headache that is marked by pain in the forehead is related to a disharmony of the stomach meridian. A headache which is affecting the sides of the head is due to a Gall Bladder Meridian disharmony. If the pain is in the eyes or vertex of the head, then the headache is related to a liver disharmony.
Once we establish the root cause of a headache (i.e Liver disharmony or Gall Bladder disharmony etc.) then treatment can begin on that particular meridian. If the treatment is progressing well, the pain may be significantly reduced after 20 to 30 minutes. We also offer practical advice on the root cause of your headache, so that the headache may be avoided in the future.
